Imagine MK – Ideas Competition
This competition has now ended. The prizes for the winning entries were awarded by the Mayor of Milton Keynes, Mohammed Khan, on 28th May at Midsummer Place, where they will be exhibited for three weeks.
Phase one of the Imagine MK 2030 campaign has seen people of all ages take part in our creative ideas competition, where participants have written, drawn, and electronically designed their ideas to present what they think our future carbon neutral city could or should be like to live in.
A judging panel comprising representatives volunteering their time from local design architects Eco Design Consultants, charity Help Close By, and Anglian Water‘s Community Education Team, had the tough job of finding three winners in each of the three age categories out of the 140+ entries received.
Well done to everyone who took part. There were some really inspiring ideas put forward.
Congratulations to the winners. We hope to see your ideas come to fruition in MK soon!

Why this is important
Milton Keynes Council has set an ambitious environmental target to make our city carbon neutral by 2030. But this can only be achieved if we are all prepared to make changes to the way we do things in our daily lives today.
So where do we start?
The Sustainable Development Goals give us the answers…
What can I do?
We can work together to find creative solutions to the problems that apply to our lives and our city.
Let’s start by imagining the future sustainable city we want to live and work in, together…
Thanks to a Big Lottery Community Fund grant via the national Transition Network, our local Transition Town Milton Keynes group is focused on making 2021 our city’s year of sustainability action.
We are working with Milton Keynes Council Sustainability team’s INTENSIFY project and other partners across the city on our Imagine MK campaign. And we invite you to participate in the creating “Our Vision for (Sustainable Living in) Milton Keynes in 2030” by giving us your ideas.
About us
Transition Town Milton Keynes is all about people working together to reimagine and rebuild our world, starting locally.
We have lots of community projects going on in Milton Keynes that you can get involved in – from litter picks, “Zero plastic” refill schemes, and tree planting, to creating community gardens and campaigning for a more sustainable MK.
Everyone is welcome. We’d love you to join us.
By taking part in our Imagine MK creative ideas competition, your imaginative creations will contribute to the big picture of what we all want Milton Keynes to look like in future.
We want you to get creative and help us show our leaders the sustainable city we imagine for our future.
